Confidentiality & Information Handling

Selling a business is sensitive. Our process is built around controlled disclosure — you decide what moves to the next level, and nothing is advertised because you asked us a question.

In short

  • Your identity and your numbers are not shared because you contacted us.
  • Information moves through defined levels, and each level needs the right approval.
  • Confidential does not mean absolute secrecy — staff with a genuine need, advisers, service providers and the law can require access.
  • Sending us information never creates an automatic marketplace listing.
  • Buyer proof of funds and verification material is confidential too, and is never shown to other buyers.

What we treat as confidential

  • The identity of a business submitted to us privately
  • The owner's identity
  • Financial statements and tax returns
  • Sales, margins and fuel information
  • Employee information
  • Asking price and the owner's reasons for selling
  • Property information that is not otherwise public
  • Contracts and environmental information
  • Uploaded documents and deal communications
  • Buyer proof of funds and verification material

What confidential does not mean

We will not promise absolute secrecy, because that would not be true. Information may be disclosed:

  • To our own people who have a genuine need to see it
  • To professional advisers
  • To service providers who support the platform
  • Where you have authorised it
  • Where the law requires it
  • To protect rights or security
  • During a transaction, where the disclosure has been approved

Information that is already public does not become confidential simply because a copy of it also sits in a deal file.

Disclosure levels

Level 0 — Internal

Your full submission, visible only to our team.

Level 1 — Anonymous opportunity

General region and category, with operating information redacted. No business name, no address.

Level 2 — Qualified review

Additional approved financial and operating information, released to a buyer who has been approved and has signed the relevant agreement.

Level 3 — Controlled data room

Approved diligence materials in a permissioned data room, with access logged and time-limited links.

Level 4 — Identified opportunity

Business identity and exact location, only once the required approvals are in place.

We control access technically at every level, and the authorisation requirements are built into the workflow rather than left to memory.

No automatic marketplace listing

Submitting information to us does not cause your business to be advertised or listed in our buyer marketplace. We evaluate the opportunity ourselves first, and anything beyond that needs your specific authorisation.

Buyer-side confidentiality

Buyer identity, entity details, financing information and proof-of-funds material are confidential. They are not visible to other marketplace users, and only our people and approved advisers with a legitimate need can access them.
